The Chairman of Augusta National today announced some rule changes going forward for The Masters tournament. In a statement Billy Payne said “We believe offering more playing opportunities for the participants over the weekend is a positive for everyone involved. For the World’s best players wishing to compete over four rounds, for the patrons enjoying the tournament here on site and for those golf fans watching at home.”
Rule Changes Announced by Augusta National
1) Top 50 and players within 10 shots of lead make the cut.
2) The top 12 finishers from the Masters will earn invitations to the next Masters.
3) The top 4 finishers from the U.S. Open will earn invitations to the next Masters.
4) Top 30 on money list no longer automatically qualify.
