The Orlando SeaWolves concluded their 2019 MASL season on a winning note as they defeated local rivals, Florida Tropics, at Silver Spurs Arena on Saturday night.
The visitors opened the scoring just three minutes into the game as Victor Parreiras tapped home but four minutes later, SeaWolves leading goalscorer Gordy Gurson (pictured above left) leveled things up after an uncharacteristic mistake by Tropics goalkeeper Hugo Silva.
The second period saw the SeaWolves take a 3-1 lead as Stefan Mijatovic and Jonathan Mendoza both scored but the Tropics managed to get one back from the penalty spot as Parreiras grabbed his second of the evening.

Two minutes into the third quarter, the Tropics were level as JP Reyes fired home from close range. The game was now in the balance but it was the home side who would go ahead a minute into the final period when Mario Alvarez seized on a loose ball to score and give the SeaWolves a 4-3 lead.
17 seconds later it was 4-4 as Ricardo Diegues smashed home a fine volley to make it 4-4 and anyone’s game. The crucial moment would come in the 9th minute of the quarter as Thiago Freitas found the net after good work by Gurson. The SeaWolves then wrapped things up with a power play goal in the dying seconds and fittingly it would be Gurson who would get it. It was a goal that gave the striker an impressive 34 goal return as well as 24 assists in 24 games, good for fourth in overall points in the MASL this year.
