It sure is warm here in Orlando! A fact backed up by the fact that Central Florida hit 100 degrees this afternoon, the first time the area has recorded triple-digit temperatures in 17 years!
The last time it reached this mark was on July 3, 1998, the National Weather Service said. Orlando has only been 100 degrees or warmer about 30 times since the NWS started keeping track and it’s certainly sent visitors to the area to air conditioned rooms, water parks and swimming pools to cool off!
Orlando’s all-time high temperature was 103 degrees, set Sept. 8, 1921 but temperatures are not typically warmer than the low 90s in the summer.
The outlook for the next couple of weeks is much of the same as temperatures will continue to be in the mid-90s through to the 4th July weekend.
It’s a good reminder to drink lots of water, wear sunblock, wear hats to shade from the sun and to go inside to the cooler air conditioning from time to time!
