A new matchday magazine greeted Orlando City Soccer fans at the weekend as the Lions Roar magazine made its debut at the LA Galaxy game.
The partnership is between Orlando City Soccer and the award-winning agency 442 Sports, who are headquartered in England. The Gameday Magazine will now appear at every Major League Soccer (MLS) home game for the remainder of the 2015 season, along with the 2016 and 2017 MLS seasons.
The 84 page first issue of Lions Roar, came complete with a free poster of Brek Shea and was well received by fans, players and club officials. It featured 278 photographs of players, fans and club events, as well as several great articles on the game of soccer in both the United States and Europe.
The magazine contained a seven page spread on Brek Shea and also devoted seven pages to the LA Galaxy. There were twelve pages on Orlando City’s season to date, as well as player profiles. Of course, every magazine needs advertising to survive but it is kept to a minimum with just 17 full pages of adverts in the issue.
442 Sports has worked with over 25 clubs in Britain and across Europe, picking up numerous prestigious awards for their innovative work with clubs like Queens Park Rangers, AFC Bournemouth, Birmingham City and Heart of Midlothian.
The partnership with Orlando City is their first ever in the MLS. 442 Sports have helped transform the gameday experience for thousands of supporters across the globe and expect to do the same for Orlando City fans.
“We’re thrilled to offer this exclusive magazine for our loyal fans each and every home match throughout the season,” said Orlando City CEO Alex Leitao. “This is another example of our Club continuing to innovate and bring our team closer to fans through additional channels. We look forward to working closely with 442 Sports to deliver a first class gameday publication.”
“This is a really exciting partnership and we’re looking forward to working with everyone at Orlando City SC,” said 442 Sports Creative Director Brian Stock. “The club has been very positive and extremely supportive since day one and we hope the fans like what they see when they come to the LA Galaxy game. Lions Roar will be packed with game stats, exclusive player interviews and much, much more content direct from the club to its fans. We’re proud to launch this gameday magazine + for Orlando City on one of their biggest games of the season.”
