Master’s weekend always makes me envious that I can’t be there…how about you? When you think of world class golf courses you always reference Augusta, and maybe portions of the west coast and a few tropical islands, but here in Kissimmee we have some great golf to offer as well. In Central Florida it is possible to play a new hole every day of your vacation and still not see even half of what this area has to offer a golfer. With Orlando being a short drive away, there are so many courses in your reach…at last count you could get to well over 50 courses within an hour drive!
Here’s a few in the immediate Kissimmee area so that when you next vacation here you know where to go:
Kissimmee Oaks Golf Club
The “Oaks” in the name of the Kissimmee Oaks Golf Club comes from the large and lovely 100 year old Oak trees that line the paths of this full golf course. This is my local course and this is the place that taught me how to play the game and how to position the ball. With over 15 holes that feature water there’s not much room for error. There is a nice size clubhouse where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink after your game, and flexible tee times for you and your party. You can warm up before your round with a twenty position driving range spot. This is an independent golf course, usually free of the hustle and bustle of resort dwellers.
Kissimmee Golf Club
Just twenty minutes away from the heart of the Orlando attractions is the Kissimmee Golf Club. Located alongside Kissimmee municipal airport (yes, Tiger Woods sometimes flies in and out of here) you can always be sure to see some activity in the sky. This course has plenty of challenges and reasonable rates for the quality of course are part of the Kissimmee Golf Club appeal. All golfing abilities are welcomed on this course, and there are even affordable lessons for those who need to improve their game.
