The second edition of the Florida Cup returns to Orlando this weekend and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
Top clubs from the German Bundesliga and Brazil’s Série A headline the soccer showcase as well as teams from Colombia and the Ukraine. The tournament is a chance for teams to showcase the game and build their brand in the United States while on their winter break.
The full line up of teams involved is as follows:
German Bundesliga – Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04
Brazil Série A – Corinthians, Fluminense, Atletico Mineiro and Internacional
Colombia – Santa Fe
Ukraine – Shakhtar Donetsk
North America Soccer League – Fort Lauderdale Strikers
The tournament runs from 10th January through to the 20th January and matches will be played at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, and Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Star players will also be visiting Florida for the games and it’s an opportunity to see the likes of Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez – Bayer Leverkusen forward and Mexican National Team, Ronaldinho – Fluminense forward, 2-time FIFA World Player of the Year (2004,2005) and Brazilian National Team, Elias – Corinthians midfielder and Brazilian National Team, Tite – Corinthians manager, 2012 FIFIA Club World Cup Champions, Omar Perez – Independiente Sante Fe attacking midfielder, Argentine with over 400 senior team appearances / 3-time Copa Libertadores Champion with Boca Juniors (ARG), Carlos Valdez – Independiente Santa Fe defender, 2012 MLS All-Star, and Columbian National Team, Anderson – Internacional, former Manchester United midfielder and Brazilian National Team, Fred – Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder and Brazilian National Team and Kevin Prince Boateng – FC Schalke 04, former AC Milan midfielder and Ghanian National Teamer.
