Fashion Day at WGC-Cadillac Championship – Trump National Doral in Miami
It was an exciting day at World Gold Championships-Cadillac Championship as Dustin Johnson (74), Matt Kuchar (74), Hunter Mahan (74) and Patrick Reed (75) shared the second-round lead of the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship at 1-under 143.
The Trump National Doral played like a US Open on Friday as strong winds made conditions extremely difficult for the vast majority of the field on the newly redesigned course. Many of the players faced an early start to complete their first round that was interrupted by a thunderstorm on Thursday. Playing conditions weren’t kind as steady gusts of wind up to 35 miles per hour wreaked havoc on an elite field as they struggled to keep their balls out of the water and the bunkers. The players weren’t the only folks to suffer though and it was impossible not to feel sorry for the TV guys perched high up over the golf course on the various cranes!
In the end, just four golfers were finished the first two days of competition below even par. Patrick Reed, Hunter Mahan (pictured above), Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar all enter the weekend tied at one under and they’ll all be looking forward to more normal Floridian conditions as the wind is expected to die down overnight.
Friday at Doral is now known as Fashion Friday and it’s a chance to enjoy some lighter entertainment as various shows are put on for the visitors to the event. The afternoon started with Trump Model Search then progressed onto a Fan Fashion Contest before the evening was rounded off with Ivanka Trump hosting a Carolina Herrera fashion show with live music from DJ Irie at the Blue Monster Village.
The evening event also saw Donald Trump make an appearance along with Miss Universe Gabriela Isler from Venezuela who was the seventh woman from that small country to take the title. Other celebrity appearances included Heather Thomson from Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New York City”.
