503 days remain from now until 3rd November 2020 but that didn’t stop Donald Trump (pictured above) making an appearance at Orlando’s Amway Center Tuesday night as he kick started his re-election campaign.
Having raised some $24.8 million in less than 24 hours according to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, Mr. Trump took center stage and roused his fan-base with a 76 minute speech that honed in on his political opponents and on how well the US economy is currently doing while under his watch.
Mr. Trump heaped praise on various dignitaries in the audience including Senators. Lindsey Graham (pictured above) and Marco Rubio and also invited outgoing press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to join him on stage, calling her “so good, so talented, so wonderful.”
Sanders announced last week she would be leaving the White House at the end of this month and she said “This has been truly the honor of a lifetime and one of the most incredible experiences anyone can imagine. And that’s because I’ve had the chance to be on the front row of history and watch you drastically change our country for the better. You’ve made America great, you’re going to continue to make America great. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of your team.”
Mr. Trump also praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (pictured above) for signing new legislation in the State on sanctuary cities as he touched on immigration. Old favorites such as Hillary Clinton, the Democratic party and fake news in the media were high on his hit list but none of the material in his speech was new to his audience. Instead it was perceived as a reinforcement of his grievances and an opportunity to hammer home his message to his core support, many of whom had waited many hours to hear their President. The countdown to election day 2020 continues.
