Dine with Shamu at SeaWorld Orlando

Just recently we visited SeaWorld Orlando to see what the “Dine with Shamu” experience was all about. Billed as Orlando’s most immersive and memorable family dining experience, “Dine with Shamu” is the chance to get closer than ever to the majestic Orca whales while enjoying a delicious meal of seasonal and sustainable items at a reserved poolside table.

The experience begins before you enter the dining venue as the Killer Whales can be seen in their tank from an underwater glass window. It’s here that Shamu and her friends are housed prior to the “One Ocean” show and you’ll usually find them in an excited mood prior to entertaining the parks guests. Once the show is over,”Dine with Shamu” guests are then escorted to their poolside tables and shown where the feast is to be had!

The menu is extensive and there is something for all tastes. We had someone who prefers gluten free food in our party and there was no problem at all with finding something on the menu that was delicious to eat. SeaWorld’s commitment to the world we share not only serves the animals we have but it also extends to the food they serve. All the items served at “dine with Shamu” are seasonal, fresh and sustainable. There is a wide choice and lovers of Black Angus strip loin, roasted pork loin, and free range grilled chicken will not be disappointed. The all natural, grain fed Black Angus strip loin was a big hit with our party but I personally loved the 100% natural cinnamon-cured pork.

Other choices included filet of cod, and seasonal sides including lemon butter herb roasted red potatoes, summer vegetable lo mein, cucumber salad, mixed green salad, summer fruit salad and coconut Caribbean rice. There’s also a nice selection off freshly baked goods as well as signature desserts and a special kids’ buffet for those younger mouths!

The main event, however, is the incredible opportunity to get closer to the amazing killer whales than any other park guest. The whales are put through their paces and guests get the opportunity to see the interactions that occur between SeaWorld’s trainer and the whales. It’s a chance to learn about the little things that SeaWorld does to help save valuable ocean resources and habitats as well as protect such unique and beautiful animals.

The cost to enjoy this fabulous experience is just$29 for adults and $19 for children ages 3 through 9. It’s a must do when you’re visiting Orlando!
