In a move many people would call crazy, it was just another day at the office this morning for daredevil Nik Wallenda as he took a stroll around the perimeter of the Orlando Eye. To make matters more interesting, Wallenda enjoyed his 400 foot high walk as the observation wheel was actually moving!
Wallenda, a seventh-generation highwire performer who famously walked a tightrope between two Chicago skyscrapers last year, rode up on one of the attractions capsules just after 8am before proceeding to climb through the roof and then down to the edge of the wheel. Wallenda later commented that getting down to the perimeter was 50% of the danger.
“It’s a little windy,” Wallenda initially remarked, adding that the structure was “really wet”.
After successfully completing the walk, Wallenda then rode to the ground atop one of the wheel’s capsules.
The Guinness World Records is currently awaiting further evidence from the serial record breaker’s attempt in order to verify if has indeed added to his collection of world records, which currently includes the titles for First tightrope walk at the base of the Niagara Falls, the Highest blindfolded tightrope walk and the Highest tightrope crossing by bicycle.
The incredible stunt formed part of the grand opening of the Orlando Eye, which is set to open to the public on Monday 4th May 2015.
