Nude Nite, the largest nude art show in the U.S., opens its doors Valentine’s weekend for its annual exhibition of art and entertainment. Nude Nite exhibits over 200 original works in a 20,000 SF pop-up gallery setting allowing thousands of art enthusiasts to view and purchase artist’s works. The juried show has gained a national reputation for giving the nude a confident standing in the art world and has long been recognized as Central Florida’s most anticipated art event.
The 2014 show theme “Mirror Mirror – The Other Side of Me” transforms yet another industrial warehouse into a signature gallery taking inspiration from social media and the Selfie movement.
“The mirror has long been a metaphor for self-perception. But in today’s individualistic world, self-promotion, self-reflection, and attention to self-image have gained significance. The mirror symbolizes reality and illusion, endless depth as well as superficiality. It’s reactive and interactive. How we see ourselves through its ‘eyes’ weighs heavily on how we believe others perceive us. And what we choose to see in our reflection is constantly changing,” director Kelly Stevens says.
Guests at Nude Nite will explore these concepts through installations and interactive artworks. Guest will view works of art from a virtual perspective as if suspended from an urban rooftop. A futuristic city skyline created by mural artist, Leonard Palmer will set the mood complete with peek-a-boo mirrored windows. Contortionists will reshape your perception of the body while an aerialist in a floating cube stuns onlookers below. Guests can explore their own psyche by interpreting live human ink blots or test the strength of their body language via a human thought bubble. Frenchie, the sexy mime, will also tempt passersby into doing naughty things in classic gesture-like fashion. La Figa Chef Tiberio Simone will transform models bodies into canvas with intricate culinary food designs throughout the evening. His coffee table book, La Figa: Visions of Food and Form
(www.LaFigaProject.com), features a spectacular collection of sensual photography – models wearing nothing but Simone’s edible creations. “La Figa examines the relationship between food, touch and the ingredients that make life delicious,” said Simone. “It’s a unique hybrid of live art, photography and food.”
Guest can expect Nude Nite’s saucy burlesque shows at the “top” of every hour beginning at 9pm, 10pm and 11pm including performances by Miss Polly Wood, Angelique De’Vil and special male guests, the Rock Hard Revue on Thursday and Friday. In addition, expect to be entertained by world class body painters, aerialists, stilt walkers and the unusual cast of strolling characters around every corner.
