Broadway Balances America invites you to go behind the scenes of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA
Broadway Across America’s collaboration with the award-winning morning show “The Balancing Act®,” on the Lifetime® Channel continues with the Season Two premiere of the six-part series “Broadway Balances America” featuring Rodgers + Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA. This new episode debuts on Tuesday, August 25 at 7:30AM (ET/PT) and will re-air on Tuesday, September 1 at 7:30AM (ET/PT).
RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA, the 2013 Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical, will play at the Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for a limited engagement from November 10 through November 15, 2015 as part of the 2015-2016 FAIRWINDS Broadway in Orlando Season presented in partnership with Florida Theatrical Association.
Tickets for CINDERELLA will go on sale to the public at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 and can be purchased online at drphillipscenter.org, by phone at 844.513.2014 or in person at the Dr. Phillips Center Box Office (Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 4:00 pm). With its fresh new take on the beloved tale of a young woman who is transformed from a chambermaid into a princess, this hilarious and romantic CINDERELLA combines the story’s classic elements – glass slippers, pumpkin, and a beautiful ball along with some surprising twists. More than just a pretty face with the right shoe size, this Cinderella is a contemporary figure living in a fairytale setting.
She is a spirited young woman with savvy and soul who doesn’t let her rags or her gowns trip her up in her quest for kindness, compassion and forgiveness. She longs to escape the drudgery of her work at home and instead work to make the world a better place. She not only fights for her own dreams, but forces the prince to open his eyes to the world around him and realize his dreams too. She is the Cinderella of the 21st century.
The Balancing Act’s® correspondent Amber Milt takes viewers behind-the-scenes to meet Paige Faure (“Ella”), the talented leading actress starring in the national tour, as she navigates the demands of her life on stage and off, raising her son on the road and performing eight times per week. We’ll also see the supportive environment Paige shares with her fellow actors including Andy Huntington Jones (“Topher”), who recently found his “fairytale ending.” In addition to Paige and Andy, we’ll hear from Jill Furman (Producer) and Douglas Carter Beane (New Book), who re-imagined this classic tale with an inspiring and new contemporary perspective.
