Things are starting to shape up at LEGOLAND® Florida as they received delivery of 32 LEGO® models for the family theme park. The first of 50 shipments arrived recently and the container housed several life-size models that were made by hand, in Europe, especially for LEGOLAND and will be featured throughout the park once it opens this October.
Each model was painstakingly wrapped to preserve the precious contents before being loaded for a two week journey on a shipping container ship-bound for Florida. Among the models shipped are a 40,000 brick blacksmith for Castle Hill, a shark’s head for Skipper School and Merlin the wizard for inside the Castle.
Once it is completed, LEGOLAND Florida will have more than 30 million LEGO bricks over the 150-acre Park, all cared after by a staff of six model builders and designers. LEGOLAND Florida will be the biggest to ever open offering a unique mix of more than 50 rides, shows and attractions apart from the spectacular LEGO® models. The Florida development will be Merlin Entertainment’s second LEGOLAND Park in North America and will play an important role in the group’s continued growth in the U.S. The park will provide a full-day, year round, theme park experience geared towards families with children between the ages of two and 12 and it will mirror the successful concept of the four existing LEGOLAND Parks in Denmark, Germany, UK and California. However, as with the other four, it will also have its own unique “twist” reflecting its stunning location and adding a Florida flavor…can’t wait!
