Mecum rolls into Kissimmee with over 3,500 vehicles expected to hit the auction block

The massive 11-day Mecum Auction returned to Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee today and runs until 13th January.  The auction offers the world’s largest selection of classic and collector cars along with road art, parades, the “Dodge Thrill Ride,” live music, keynote speakers, culinary cook-offs and much more.

The event first came to Kissimmee in 2006 has now evolved into a huge extravagant entertainment event that is fun for all the family.

“We’ve come a long way from our first official auction at the Rockford Airport in 1988,” said President Dana Mecum (pictured above.) “We’re really a family business that grew up and got big. Our goal has always been to give Mecum Auction attendees an amazing experience and unite them with an incredible car they will enjoy.”

Mecum is is headquartered in Walworth, Wisconsin and hosts more than a dozen events every year. The Kissimmee auction is the largest and longest of the shows while Mecum is ranked No. 1 in the world for number of collectors cars offered, with more than 20,000 vehicles every year.

While the vehicles are the main attraction of the event, musical performances are scheduled to take the stage throughout the week.

CULINARY COOK-OFFS

The Mecum Culinary Cook-Off happens Jan. 11-12, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Celebrity Chef Andrew Zimmern will serve as one of the judges during the Jan. 12 competition.

It’s hard to comprehend the scale of this annual event if you’ve never experienced it. An estimated 3,500 cars from around the world cover the 60 acres at Osceola Heritage Park and feature everything from classic Mustangs and Corvettes to ultra-rare Ferraris.

100,000 spectators are expected at the event this year along with 10,000 bidders and guests. Ticket sales and auction block revenue is anticipated to generate over $100 million in overall sales for the first time topping the $96 million turned over in 2018.

Mecum Kissimmee 2019 is at Osceola Heritage Park – 1875 Silver Spur Lane. General admission is $30 per person, per day. Children 12 years and younger get in for free. Gates open at 8 a.m. daily and auctions begin at 10 a.m. most days. More information can be found here.
