Florida Governor Rick Scott announced today that a record number of tourists flocked to its beaches, theme parks and cities in 2015.

At an announcement at Epcot at Walt Disney World, Scott said that 105 million people visited the Sunshine State in 2015, according to preliminary estimates from Visit Florida, the state’s tourism marketing arm.

The new total marks the fifth consecutive year Florida has scored a record number of visitor beating the previous high of nearly 99 million in 2014.

The average number of direct travel-related jobs in 2015 also reached a record high, with 1,199,200 Floridians employed in the tourism industry, up 53,400 or 4.7 percent over the same period last year.

“Tourism plays an important role in supporting our economy, and we will continue to make strategic investments in the tourism industry to keep Florida on track to becoming first for jobs,” Scott said.

Of the 105 million visitors, 62 million made their way to Orlando, making Central Florida the most popular area for visitors.
