Orlando City Soccer Club’s home opener against fellow league newcomers New York City FC is becoming the hottest ticket in town.  The Club announced today that it has sold over 40,000 tickets to the historic match thus far, and is continuing to make significant progress toward its goal to #FillTheBowl.

The Club also announced that individual and limited group seats are now available in the Terrace section, or upper tier, of the Orlando Citrus Bowl.  For information on ticket sales to the match on March 8 and all season long, visit www.OrlandoCitySC.com or call 855-ORL-CITY.

A limited number of season tickets remain in the lower bowl, and the Plaza level has nearly sold out for the opening game.

“Orlando City fans have responded in overwhelming numbers since last Saturday and the milestones continue to fall as we approach the history-making season opener,” said Club President and Founder Phil Rawlins (pictured above). “Three weeks remain and we are within reach of our goal to #FillTheBowl! Orlando and all of Central Florida have embraced Purple Pride.  We are going to show the nation on March 8th why we are the ‘Soccer Capital of the South.’ “

Orlando City will host several events leading up to its inaugural match on March 8. Admission to several events includes a ticket to the historic first game. More information is available at www.OrlandoCitySC.com/FillTheBowl.

Meanwhile the team is taking shape nicely. All team members are getting some useful minutes on the pitch and this afternoon the Lions drew 2-2 with Swedish club BK Häcken in a pre-season friendly. Kevin Molino (pictured above) opened the scoring linking up neatly with Ricardo Kaká in the 7th minute. BK Häcken then leveled moments later from a well executed free kick before going ahead from a very questionable penalty in the 73rd minute. Orlando deservedly drew level as a trialist player nodded home from a cross.
