ABC’s “Good Morning America” Visits Give Kids The World For An Extreme Makeover
ABC’s “Good Morning America” team visited Give Kids The World this morning for the “Extreme Village Makeover” reveal. Renovations to 100 of the village’s 140 villas and the new Memory Makers’ Building have been taking place over the last two weeks and everything reached an exciting climax early this morning as GMA co-anchor Josh Elliott, host and designer Ty Pennington and chef Emeril Lagasse (pictured below) revealed the work that has been taking place.
40 of the villas were renovated in 2013 and the plan was to gradually renovate the villas over several years. Wyndham then offered to help complete the remaining one hundred villas over a two week period and for the first time in 25 years the villas have been fully refurbished with new appliances, floors, counter-tops and many other upgrades including a new coat of paint. In order to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible, Give Kids the World temporary closed down its village but normal service will resume on Monday 27th January as the first families will be welcomed back to the village.
The Extreme Village Makeover project will make a huge difference in the lives of families enduring difficult times and now they will have a beautiful home away from home at the Village. Additionally, they’ll also love the new Memory Makers building which now includes volunteer services, a chapel, a gift shop and a place for families to be able to record their thoughts and experiences about their week at the village.
